Carolina Altamirano


Carolina AltamiranoCarolina’s free spirit and mind fuels Barefoot’s travel innovation. Carolina is a biologist and has been a climber for over a decade. Her passion for the sciences and unwavering love for the outdoors have taken her to summit the highest and most demanding summits in Ecuador, Bolivia, and Perú. She has been the recipient of the Ecuador Female Championship Award in Sport Climbing for three consecutive years.

 

Carolina has practiced high level rock climbing in Yosemite (USA), Frankenjura (Germany), The Sphinx (Perú) and some big walls in Italy and Spain. Carolina’s challenge for 2008 is to climb big walls in Spain and across Europe. Carolina is constantly updating her skills through ongoing training. She took her last WFR in February 2007. Carolina manages Barefoot´s office in Quito and personally coordinates tours for Barefoot.

 

 

Diego Altamirano


Diego AltamiranoDiego has a passion for life and adventure. He has paddled professionally for over ten years and teaches adventure tourism in a University in Ecuador. Diego headed the Ecuadorian National Team at the Whitewater Rafting World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic in 2003 and in Inje, South Korea in 2007. Diego is part of the IRF (International Rafting Federation) and ACA (American Canoe Association) where he has received training in whitewater techniques as well as safety and rescue courses. Diego has paddled professionally in Canada, Peru, Brazil, Czech Republic, Korea and Ecuador.

Cristabel Durán Rangel

cristabel.jpgCristabel is a PhD. candidate in Freiburg, Germany, Her research takes place in tropical forests in Venezuela.

 

Cristabelcomes from Venezuela but have been several times in Ecuador for longperiods. She came to Ecuador for first time to see its wonderfullandscapes, specially its beautiful mountains. But once there sherealized that there are more than amazing snowed cape mountains, alsobeaches, tropical forests, plentiful rivers, and of course, theenchanted Galápagos Islands (where she volunteered for a couple ofmonths). In Ecuador she found not only beautiful nature, but alsofriendly and wonderful people!

 

Cristabel enjoys outdooractivities while travelling, This passion took her trekking, rock andice climbing, biking, rafting and relaxing in beautiful places inVenezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia, Germany, Italy, Spain,Switzerland and France.
