Itinerary:

Day 1: We start our tour early in the morning: we pick you up at your hotel at 7 am and continue our way by private transport to Tena (4 hours aprox. with several stops on the way). Tena is a small village, known as the entrance gate to the jungle and Ecuador´s rafting capital. Around noon we start our rafting trip on the beautiful Jatunyacu River (class III). Approx. 4 hours we pass great rapids and waves and can enjoy beautiful jungle views along the way. We have a lunch break on the shore of the river and continue up to Puerto Napo. We spend the night in a lovely jungle lodge in Misahualli close to the river - enjoy relaxing in the hammocks with a beer, swim in the pool or check out the small centre of the village, where you can find monkeys at a small beach. (L)

Day 2: After breakfast we drive to the Shiripuno community, a Kichua native community, not far away from the hotel. Charge up your energy tanks at the sacred stone of the community, learn how they make their traditional drink chicha out of yucca, see the indigenous women presenting their traditional dance, try some energizing guayusa tea and get some local artwork which is handmade by the women of the community. Emerge in a different culture! We continue our way to the Jumandi caves outside of Tena, where the Inkas once hid with their leader Jumandi in the time of the colonization. Explore the caves in a 1-hour tour, where you sometimes have to swim, will climb over waterfalls, see sleeping bats and touch stalactites and stalagmites. In Archidona we stop at traditional food place, where you can taste typical food of the area like Maito (Tilapia fish in banana leaves) or worms of the Chonta palm if you have a very exotic taste :-) Before getting back to Quito and dropping you off at your hotel, we stop in Papallacta at the Jamanco Hot Springs to relax in the hot volcanic water and enjoy views on the Antisana on a clear day! (B)
