The ascent departs from the “Jose Rivas” refuge at 4,800m and climbs through a mixture of volcanic, snow and glacier to the summit(5,897mosl). The climb is not classified as technical but a specialized climbing guide is needed and does not require previous experience but acclimatization and good physical condition is needed.

The Quilotoa is a Volcano crater that remains active with a beautiful lake inside the crater, at 3.800 mosl surrounded by local indigenes communities. On the drive to the Quilotoa we will pass by many indigenous towns and farmlands like Saquisili that has an Indian market on Thursdays only and Pujili on Sundays, once in the crater follows a steep hike down to the lake shore.
