Quijos river (Class IV-IV+)

Quijos river rafting

Quijos River is a solid class IV river located in the area of El Chaco in the eastern Andes slopes born from the Antisana glacier volcano.  Because of the amazing scenery and challenging rapids is  a world class river among the best of the world, the World Rafting Championships on 2005 was held in this river, the season is from October to March when the river level  is perfect to hit some rapids like “El Toro” one of the most challenging rapid.

Area: El Chaco. Quijos river is located in the eastern Andes slopes. 

  • The river water temperature is cold around 18 Celsius degrees, we always provide neoprene suits and spray jackets.
  • Experience is not necessary for this trip, but swimming skills and feel comfortable on the water is recommendable.


ITINERARY:

07h00    Pick up from hotel.  Drive to the river
10h00    Arrive to river.  Safety talk.  Snacks.
11h00    Rafting starts!!
14h30    Rafting finishes.  Lunch at the side of the river, Drive back to Quito
18h00    Arrive to Quito.  Drop off in hotel
