Barefoot Expeditions trips come with Active Levels with physical description to help you find the best suitable trip, most trips are an average level of fitness. Still, there are a few specialist tours (like Climbing the Andes or Whitewater kayaking trips) that require previous experience.

Level of Activity






Some easy physical activities included in your trip. No physical preparation is required to make the most of the journey.

This type of trip focuses on not moving much, such as an extended stay into the Jungle Lodge or a private house in Galapagos, also for retired people that want just to be safe and not do any physically demanding activities, Suitable for infants, disabled and elder people.


These trips are a relaxing break. You don’t have to worry about doing anything physically demanding unless you want to.

These trips are wellness-focused, stay in comfortables Adventure Spas, eat Healthy food, amazing breakfasts, soft adventures, perfect for families with kids or for couples on a honeymoon break.


This trip will raise your heartbeat. Moderate physical activities are included and a good level of fitness is recommended.

On this level, you have more active trips where you travel by car foot, boat, airplanes. You have included activities where you don’t need previous experience such as rafting trips class II-III that with our experienced guides will let you live adventures in a safe environment, moderate hikes of 1 to 3 hours, Zip-line Canopy, Class II-II Canyoning, Jungle Hikes, Mountain Biking. Suitable for children from 10 years old.


Challenge yourself. Get ready for a heart-pumping adventure with plenty of challenges and some extreme conditions. No previous experience is needed but a good fitness level is essential.

These trips are for people that want to push a little bit to their limits. For example, if you are a seasonal hiker, you may want to try Climbing up to the Cotopaxi Volcano, Or If you have paddled a class III river, you may want to try class IV. Travel Styles






Classic adventures and traditional places to visit, Standard Accommodation.


In these trips we will focus on the kids, usually, activities they can do, enough time to take care of them, and secure places where you can take a rest, usually we use accommodation with pools as kids love it.


Be prepared for some physical activity. The fitter you are, the more you’ll enjoy it.

These trips are for adventure lovers with previous experience. In this level, there are the whitewater rafting, kayaking, biking, or mountaineering focused trips. Suitable only for trained people in each adventure sport, always in the company of a professional adventure guide to lead the path and Barefoot Expeditions  24/7 immediate support.


It is a journey of several days to far & remote areas, where we travel by foot, boat, bus, cars, airplanes, and stay in tents, hotels, lodges.

Expeditions level is for the fearless adventurers, be prepared for the unknown and uncertainty, get ready to improvise situations and itinerary changes. No previous experience is needed just an open mindset and standard fitness level are advisable.
